About

Niam Raybrook was a knight in the first army of the Kingdom of St. Stylinson and a hero of the War of Grief over 600 cycles ago. During the war’s final days, Niam commanded a battalion tasked with defending the eastern gate of St. Stylinson.

In a sudden surprise attack, the enemy Cratterlian forces, led by a summoner wielding Netherkind magic, unleashed a massive horde of Netherkind upon Niam’s battalion. The soldiers were quickly overwhelmed. Seeing no other option, Niam mounted his horse and charged fearlessly through the horde, determined to find and eliminate the summoner.

Despite being struck by numerous arrows that pierced his armor and left him bleeding heavily, Niam pressed on. When he finally reached the summoner, he stood atop his horse and leaped forward, driving his sword into the enemy. The moment the blade struck, the Netherkind horde dissipated, freeing his battalion to repel the remaining Cratterian forces.

Though Niam’s bravery turned the tide of the battle and led to victory in the war, he succumbed to his wounds shortly afterward. For his valor and sacrifice, Niam was canonized as a saint.

Saint Niam is the Patron Saint of the Imperial Army and is often depicted in military attire, wielding a sword and shield, and wearing a red-and-white cape bearing his house’s banner.
