Edric Odine

Edric Odine is the Mayor of Simonville and is currently serving his second term in office. A member of the Directionland Union Party (DUP), Odine is regarded as one of Central Directionland's most recognizable local leaders. He is the brother of Lathander Odine, husband to Ellyn Odine, and father to Paldrin and Yldra Odine.

About

Though known for a formal and diplomatic public presence, Odine is not a distant politician. He is a deeply emotional man with a compassionate heart, and much of Simonville's affection for him stems from the fact that he rarely hides how deeply he feels the burdens of office. He spends much of his time in Simonville City Hall, but devotes nearly all of his free hours to his family. His wife, Ellyn, is widely said to be the person best able to calm him when the strain of leadership becomes too much.

Odine is fiercely proud of Simonville and maintains close ties with his brother in St. Niam, regularly encouraging cooperation and shared appearances between the two cities whenever possible.

Mundus Reborn

Odine's office was known to contain translated material connected to N'druvath nai ("The Darkness Inside"), which later became important to the investigation into Irian Balewood's true identity.

During the constitutional crisis sparked by Chancellor Nathaniel Crowley, Odine emerged as one of the strongest voices for unity in Central Directionland. Alongside his brother Lathander Odine, he called for an emergency gathering of city mayors and provincial councillors across the region, urging them to reject Crowley's attempted destruction of the Crown and remain loyal to the Emperor.

At that meeting, Ian Goldcrest argued that Crowley's seizure of power represented a chance to embrace something new and abandon the old order. His words reportedly won over part of the room. Odine answered with an impassioned speech that became famous across Central Directionland:

"Look beyond these walls and listen to the streets. Do you hear celebration? Do you hear relief? No. You hear fear. You hear a people asking how their realm was betrayed in a single night.

The Crown is not merely a throne. It is the symbol that binds this Union together, province to province, city to city, soul to soul. Strike it down, and you do not usher in a brave new future. You tear open the heart of Directionland itself.

Crowley is no reformer. He is a traitor to the Emperor, a traitor to the Union, a traitor to every institution we swore to uphold, and above all, a traitor to the people whose trust made this chamber possible.

Even now, the provincial army waits outside for our word. So I ask you, in the names of duty, reason, and the generations yet to come: will you condemn your children to civil war, to hunger, to a nation splintered by ambition and fear? Or will you stand, here and now, for unity?

Remember who you serve. Remember why you serve. Vote not for panic, nor for vanity, but for Directionland."

When Odine stepped down from the podium, the chamber reportedly fell into stunned silence before rising in applause. Central Directionland voted by an overwhelming majority to remain loyal to the Emperor and the Imperial Union. The provincial army was then ordered to march toward Ironwood to support the Imperial and Royal Guard in defense of the Crown.

Loopbreaker

After Crowley's coup failed and an uneasy calm settled over the realm, Odine resumed the administration of Simonville with the same efficiency for which he had become known. Though still highly strung by the strain of recent events, he remained at the forefront of local politics and was persuaded to continue as leader of Simonville DUP. Many now expect him to seek a third term in the next election.

His relationship with Ian Goldcrest remains deeply strained. Odine has made no secret of his belief that Simonville's representative disgraced both the city and the Crown by supporting Crowley's motion, and he has worked to see Ian removed from the City Council and, by extension, from Parliament.

Even in a time of deep instability, Odine has tried to preserve Simonville's civic life. Seasonal events continue to be centered around the city's Event Square whenever circumstances allow, but the mayor has also taken a harder line on public safety.

As Dark Energy continues to rise across Mundus, Odine has grown increasingly concerned for Simonville's future. Under his leadership, the city's defenses have been tightened, walls strengthened, and guard patrols increased. He has also called upon willing adventurers to help cull undead and Netherkind threats in Simonville's eastern forests, hoping to reassure citizens that their city will not be caught unprepared.
